Winter Wonderland IV, 2010

Jan 24 to Jan 29, 2010

For the past three years, we’ve been selling out our only winter workshop which we labeled Winter Wonderland (we know it’s corny but it’s true). Starting in Jackson, Wyoming we spend a week exploring and photographing the breathtaking landscapes and very accessible wildlife (bison, elk, coyote, moose, trumpeter swan, bald eagle) of Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks.

We’ll begin our week with an introductory dessert and soft drink/coffee get-together Sunday evening January 24 at our Jackson Hotel where we’ll cover topics that focus on the type of shooting you’ll be doing during the week. The following day we’ll photograph our way north to Flagg Ranch where we’ll be met by snow coaches to transport us to Old Faithful Lodge. Stopping to photograph along the way, we’ll arrive at the Lodge in plenty of time to check-in and have dinner.

Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, we’ll be transported in comfortable snow coaches (twelve-passenger modified vans) with plenty of room for passengers and equipment. We’ll spend each full day photographing Yellowstone â€" from the Madison River to Yellowstone Falls. And, we’ll set aside one night to light-paint Old Faithful after dinner (you say you’ve never light-painted?). Throughout the week, we will be at your elbow to assist you with photo techniques and/or compositional tips.

Friday morning, we’ll depart the Lodge and head back to Flagg Ranch making a stop or two to snag our last photos of Yellowstone. We’ll shoot the Tetons in the afternoon and spend Friday night, January 29, in Jackson. We’ll do a sunrise shoot on Saturday and the event ends at noon that day.

All transportation, lodging and meals at Yellowstone are included in the cost. The Lodge accommodations are modern, quiet and excellent and the dining room features outstanding menu choices for breakfast and dinner (you have your choice of buffet or menu items at breakfast). Box lunches are furnished for the days we’re out shooting and the Lodge offers several menu choices. Except as noted above, hotel, travel and meals in Jackson are at your expense. Because of limited parking at Flagg Ranch, the GAPW will arrange car pooling.

The weather? In short â€" wonderful! We often shed outer layers in Yellowstone’s daytime temperatures and sunshine. While we can’t promise great weather, we promise you’ll have fun.

Our limit is 18 participants. Total cost for this event including all expenses mentioned will be $2795. Call GAPW now at (866) 747-4279.
