Photoshop for Photographers (WS)
Feb 7 - Feb 13
Apr 18 - Apr 24

Discover an arsenal of digital tools for astounding image making.

Explore the bells and whistles Adobe Photoshop CS4 has to offer the photographer interested in advanced image making. This one-week course provides a solid foundation in Photoshop for work in digital photographic printing and imaging.

Students learn to understand and work with curves in order to specifically adjust tonal values within an image, regulating contrast, color, and tonality. Using various selection tools, image layers and masks, students learn to make local image adjustments, creating an effect that parallels traditional darkroom dodging and burning.

Discussions cover the advantages and disadvantages of digital manipulation, including conceptual intent and technical execution Photoshop CS4 has to offer. Sharpness, noise, filters, file size, selections, color, and black and white imagery are all topics explored in this workshop.

To break up lab work, students get out of the lab to explore and create images of Maine's scenery. Students face challenges and limitations of digital imaging both in the field and in the lab, and discover a myriad of possibilities to work through these challenges.

Daily lectures, demonstrations, and lots of hands-on lab work provide students with the tools to advance their skills in the digital darkroom and create all kinds of exciting imagery. Students take their images through to print and leave the Workshops with newfound digital knowledge and documentation of the week's intensive lab work.

Winter/Spring lodging & meal package available $425.
