August in Maine, where the Atlantic meets the coast, is delightful. With sunny and foggy days, you'll see the various moods of this craggy area that Margo and Arnie love to photograph. "Down East" Maine is an area known for its dramatic rocky coast, pounding surf, wonderful lighthouses, and charming fishing harbors and coves dotted with lobster boats. And we mustn't forget the famous Maine fir trees that add wonderful elements to the coastline. Margo and Arnie will take you to areas where Winslow Homer, Andy Wyeth, and other artists have painted for centuries.

Because this is a popular time of year, we have scheduled this workshop Monday through Thursday. We will be headquarted at a lovely inn in New Harbor with beautiful rooms, a spa, and an impressive wine list, so you may want to bring your spouse or significant other, who are always welcome at our workshops and instantly become part of our group.

As noted in the spring Maine workshops, the Barefoot Contessa grew up sailing this area, so knows it well and looks forward to introducing you to her special haunts where you'll be able to celebrate your passion for photography, hone your seeing and imaging skills, and learn about the magic of light to make wonderful photographs.

New Harbor is in the heart of an area that has produced many of Margo's photographs that have been published in calendars, travel magazines, and coffee-table books. After the workshop, plan on taking an extra few days to explore this area on your own, return to places we have taken you, and use your new-found knowledge to make more beautiful photographs.
