Beyond the basics of digital imaging and into fine-tuned adjustments

Investigate digital imaging beyond the basic adjustments, and develop the digital lab skills to make fine-tuned image adjustments with Adobe software. This workshop provides hands-on practice in digital image processing for those already comfortable with digital cameras and manual settings.

Using Adobe Lightroom 2 students learn organizational skills, basic retouching, tonality, contrast control, color saturation, converting color images to black and white, and printing methods. After mastering Lightroom, participants are introduced to the basics of Photoshop CS4, enabling refined image adjustments.
Demonstrations, lectures, and slideshow presentations address digital capture, image control, and boundless creative possibilities. Students capture images out in the field throughout the week in order to process new photographs, working with the challenges that arise from various subjects, and exploring their personal vision both in the field and in the lab.

This course is the second in a sequence of digital photography workshops, preparing students for further Photoshop exploration in the next class of the sequence, Photoshop for Photographers.

An understanding of camera functions in manual mode as well as a basic understanding of Adobe Lightroom is required.

Winter/Spring lodging & meal package available $425.
