Shaluta and Rotsch to Share Talents at Two WV State Park Photography Workshops

In a state blessed with natural beauty and character, noted photographers Steve Shaluta and Steve Rotsch are conducting photography workshops at two West Virginia state parks:  Twin Falls Resort and Tygart Lake state parks.

Twin Falls’ workshop is the weekend of April 17-19 and Tygart Lake edges the workshop into late spring, June 5-7. Each special event is packaged with overnight lodging, workshop and instruction, meals, and break refreshments.

Twin Falls Resort â€" Photography Workshop

Located southwest of Beckley, the agenda for this workshop will cover an array of topics from equipment and composition to photography, natural light, people, action photography, digital imaging and computer software use. This April 17-19 workshop will capture fresh spring flora and fauna and scenic opportunities.

Geared toward digital camera use, attendees will take part in field trips as well as classroom type instruction. The Twin Falls Spring Photography Workshop package includes a variety of accommodation choices. The package price of $179 for one person includes two nights' lodging, workshop fee, full lunch on Saturday and Sunday and break refreshments. The workshop only price of $70 includes workshop fee, full lunch on Saturday and Sunday and break refreshments. Cabin rates and other package prices are available. Advanced reservations are required. The Spring Photography Workshop is the perfect time to learn new skills and hone old ones and with 4,000 acres, Twin Falls provides the perfect background for these skills.

Twin Falls Resort is located in Wyoming County near Pineville and Mullens. A 4000-acre gem, the park is noted for miles of hiking trails, vacation cottages and a Cobb championship golf course. The 20-room lodge is currently under expansion and by 2010 will be a 48-room destination for small groups and business meetings. The park offers great “under expansion” overnight rates during this project period.

Tygart Lake â€" Photography Workshop

Participants should bring their digital or film SLR photography gear to the June 5-7 workshop, a laptop with any version of Photoshop (optional) and five of their best digitized photographs.

The instructors use both Nikon and Canon equipment and will be able to talk intimately about both systems.

Intermediate, advanced and professional photographers will participate in an interactive classroom experience, which includes Photoshop techniques, camera etiquette, composition and printing. Other possible topics include file management and image storage options, such as adding file info Meta data to images files. The workshop will heavily favor digital photography.

Friday night, June 5, there will be a “meet and greet” from 7-9 p.m. with discussions between the instructors and participants to fine tune the agenda of the Saturday session.

Saturday morning is classroom instruction with topics to accommodate the participants’ specific interests. A photography field trip is planned on Saturday afternoon. Saturday night will be an informal gathering to talk about the field trip. The highlight of the weekend will be a slide show of the participant’s best images and a critique of the participant’s photographs on Sunday morning.

Tygart Lake is located in Taylor County near Grafton. The lake view from the lodge showcases what is some of West Virginia’s best boating and fishing opportunities around. Spring trout stocking, deep pools and miles of shoreline create serene images. The park offers a spacious 20-room lodge, cabins and campground.  Both parks offer full-service restaurants and gracious hospitality to state residents and guests to the state.
