I read an interesting article this morning on MSNBC. The article was concerning a family from Missouri who took a Christmas Card photo. That photo ended up on the other side of the globe advertising a grocery stores delivery service. you can read more about it by going to the article on MSNBC. Here is a link.
According to to the article a friend of the family who was traveling in Prague spotted the image and sent back some clicks of it to the family. They then began making inquires into it. In the article the Danielle Smith, the Mother in the image, comments that she had posted the image on her blog and a social networking site and that they are working to figure out how it ended up on an advertisement in Germany. She also comments that the next time she posts an image like this she will lower the resolution and add a watermark.
That is sound advice for anyone posting to the web. It is very easy to grab an image from the web. In the past I had placed watermarks on my site but have gotten away from that in recent days. As I prepare to make changes to my main site I am considering adding them back in. I do take messier to protect my images but being a web developer I know that those measures can easily be circumvented.
Its food for thought...keep the shutters clicin'!(Click Here to Know More)
